“So come Lord Jesus, find in me,
The child you came to save.
Stoop tenderly with wounded hands,
And lift me from my grave!”
– MALCOMB GUITE
The Advent season is a wonderful time – a celebration of the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It brings out the child in all of us as those He came to save! FCC members celebrated this joyous Coming with worship and fellowship this year. It was marvelous!
We began with our traditional Hanging of The Greens service held the first Sunday of Advent. The sanctuary was made beautifully welcoming to all worshipers with evergreens, royal colors, and lights. A faithful rendition of the season.
Along with celebrations we also focused on service to others by donating funds and goods to the local Salvation Army, the Emergency Shelter, and The Caring Place. Our snowman Christmas tree was decorated full of Socks & Mittens for those in need this winter.
The ladies of our congregation enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Tea at a local venue. A fun time for fellowship and love for each other in the celebration of Christ’s birth.
We also had a wonderful Christmas meal for all our members. Many delicious dishes filled the tables and the fellowship was fun for all.
Certainly a highlight of the season was our Christmas Cantata performance by the FCC Choir as directed by Melody Brannen. We were blessed to have special guest performers join our choir for a beautiful presentation of The Road To Bethlehem. Thanks to all those whose hard work led to a truly wonderful presentation.
Our Christmas Eve service of Lessons & Carols brought the true meaning of Christmas to all those present.
So often, we skip though the season focused on so many things that don’t have anything to do with the true meaning of Christmas. A pause and focus on the real story of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love is good for our souls and reminds us that ‘GOD IS NOT DEAD, NOR DOTH HE SLEEP.’ We are so blessed!!
